My gf just purchased a brand new 07 Heritage softtail classic. She wants to take the passenger pillion and sissy bar off. Problem is for her to do this and ride solo with a solo look.....there is theLARGEdocking hardwareand plate for the seat.....looks really stupid. Is there any type of cover up so she can have that solo look without buying another seat? Has anyone else tried to hide this ugly mess? Does motherwell or someone make an after market rack to follow the contour of the fender in a solo application? Or, is there a backrest that connects to the docking hardware for it to be used as a solo seat? Thanks, MAKO
I have the same problem to some degree. I removed the pillion as well and hated the big plate and threaded studs that were visible from the back of the seat. I have a short inseam so I decided to replace the wide factory seat to move myself forward and get me closer to the ground. I boughta Corbin Close Classic Solo and had to remove the factory seat bracket for this new seat to fit. When you remove the plate it leaves two holes in the fender that are visible from the back of the new Corbin seat. I have had no success so far trying to find anything from HD or aftermarket that will fill these holes. One HD dealer gave me some round plastic plugs, but these holes aren't round and if I don't fill them then I am going to get water, dirt, etc... from the rear tire.
All the tail pieces offered by HD are only compatible with their seats. I don't know about the aftermarket bibs. A matching pillion seat for the Corbin is $$$$ and defeats the purpose of removing the original pillion.
I am going to the dealer where I purchased the bikefor some Mods on Friday and plan to find out if there are any options for the factory bracket or the holes it leaves when removed.
Thanks. It really sucks. Talked to Motherwell yesterday and they have nothing yet either. I am gonna send another post to see if anyone has a backrest that docking hardware. Mako
Mako,
I have a Springer Classic,
I may be mistaken but I believe it is a similar looking set up.
I got a fender bib rom mustang and I trimed it so it goes over the
Plate. just need to be a little careful to trim it neetly around the seat so it fits
in nicely...that covers the plate.
As for the nuts, I just painted them black.
I can put my passenger pillion on right over the mustang bib if I like.
...........Hope this helps

My wife wanted her 07 heritage to run solo also. the rear seat mount on the drivers seat is the same as my road king std. except it is chrome. I dont use my stock seat so i swaped her black one to chome. I also replaced the thumb screws with chrome acorn nuts, since I always have a tool kit removing the nuts is no problem to get under the seat.she now has a mustang bib under the seat tab it looks good.

The seat mount on the '07 was a really ugly change. I bought all QR hardware for the bags, sissy bar, etc. Everything looked great until I removed the passenger seat, those ugly nuts and mounting plate look horrible.
