Remove stem

Default Remove stem
I'm trying to remove my steering stem and bearing from the lower tree. It has been pretty hard to budge. An old post said remove the circlip and press the bottom of the shaft out then remove the bearing the other direction and press it out towards the top, just want to be sure I'm doing this right. In the pic the stem is below hidden behind the cloth.

I've always cut the bearing off in sorts. Dremel with cutoff wheel on opposite sides as far as you dare go without nicking the stem. Then take a chisel and hit it. Should crack right off.

Figured it out, web page called dansmc.com/steering_bearings.htm was a good help.

I heat mine then beat on it for ten minutes.

I nicked the stem & turned it blue from the heat, I'm debating a new triple tree.

1999 FLSTC.
