I just recently installed the HD Daymaker LED headlight on my 2014 Slim. I have noticed something very odd on the outer lens of the headlight and was wondering if anybody else has seen this or if my light is defective.
When the bike is just sitting around, the lens on the headlight is crystal clear as it should be. However, when I go out for a ride and get home, I look at the outer lens of the light (the one you can touch with your hands) and it looks blurry or fuzzy
I know this sounds very strange but I have confirmed it several times now. Clear when sitting in garage before a ride and blurry/fuzzy after a ride.
Anybody else see this on theirs? I wanted to ask this here before I drive down to my dealer and sound like a moron
So the fuzziness goes away after sitting back in the garage for a bit? Any pics? I have a Daymaker but haven't noticed this, but also haven't looked for it or paid attention. Does this affect light performance? ie. at night does the lighting get worse as time goes on?
UT, I have only had the light about 4 weeks and most of my rides are during the day. When I ride at night it usually starts out as a daytime ride and ends at night, no way to tell if light quality faded. I tried to take pictures but the quality is never good enough to actually show the difference. Please take a look at your light and report back.
I have to say I am not that impressed with the light quality. I was expecting more volume and brighter light from seeing others riding around with the Daymaker before I bought it.
SoCal, yes it is humid here but I would not expect a brand new headlight to show any signs of humidity inside the lens. I think even if there were some humidity, it would go away when the light is on as it will produce some heat (no matter how little the LED's generate). More likely to be humid in my garage.
I've had my Daymaker for about a year now and no sign of what you're reporting.
I've read one report of condensate inside the light, so obviously this must be rare - I would contact whoever you bought it from and let them know that you're looking for a warranty replacement.

YES. I have the same thing. 60%-70% humidity in my area is normal. I've noticed it, figured it was condensation... It's just barely a haze, so I have not made an issue if it. Yet. Once I shut down, it's gone within an hour or two.
Still under warranty... I'm debating having something done. My god that thing was a PITA to get aimed properly. I don't want to have to go through that again.
