congrats on the bike.. A good running EVO will usually get better mileage than the newer TC's..

most TC get anywhere from 35-45, while most of the EVO's I've rode with seem to get 48-50 mph easy...

3.4 gallons is someone with dyslexia writing the articles you read.

I have a 95 Heritage.

Stock without windshield it got 48 mpg.
Stock with windshield it got 42 mpg.

Milled the heads, rejetted carb, changed the cam, ignition and a couple of other things and it dropped to 34-36 mpg with the windshield. With the stock tank which is 4.3 gallons, that carries me about 155 miles. Stock I would go 200 miles.

200 miles was fine. I find 155 miles to not quite be enough.

I have a EV13 cam, which is a mild low rpm torque cam, so I am puzzled by the big drop in fuel economy. Fuel cost is not what bothers me. It is the reduced range that bothers me and has me thinking about a slightly larger tank.

I was thinking about a tank either from a Softail custom or a road king, but am uncertain of fitment.
