Default DIY Heritage trunk for less than $150

I have a 2014 Heritage Classic, and I wanted more conspicuity to my six and to the sides. Harley trunks for Heritage are bit expensive but they don't come with tail lights, which was the number 1 priority for me. So I purchase a new trunk on Ebay($75), and purchased four LED tail lights ([$38]very bright and only draw .12 amps in bright mode) from Leading Edge trailer. I added $20 in wire, screws, and bolts.

I use the tail lights in bright mode, and even in bright sun the lights are easily discernible. I don't ride at night, but if I do, I'll be quite visible, especially from the side.

Most importantly, as it's a new bike and still under warranty, I did not cut or splice OEM wiring. I power the lights by connecting to the accessory plug with electrical connection kit 72673-11 ($19). The kit has three wires: ground, hot, switched. I used ground and switched. I did have to cut one of the kit wire (I messed up the little metal connector), but again, that is a Plug and Play and did not touch OEM wiring.

No, it's not a Harley trunk. Yes, it may be an unattractive box with overkill to some riders. But, with four tail lights and a Bright *** strobe I ride a bit more relaxed knowing the only the most derelict cager won't see me when I'm stopped at a signal.

Unfortunately, I had to remove sissy bar. Trunk wouldn't fit with sissy bar and pad on.
See ya.

I certainly know how nice the extra storage space is.

I had a nice sissy bar bag on my Heritage until I came across a leather Tour Pak with mount for $150. I realized just what a deal that was and didn't hesitate buying it.

My recommendations is to keep your eyes open for a leather tour pak.
With that white, the black leather tour pak will look awesome.

Agree. My goal is still a leather tour Pak, and hopefully for $150. Take care.
