Default Rocker cover stuck

Hi,
I am replacing the top rocker cover (front) on 2006 Fxsti (there was a crack near one of the bolts). I have a manual for the 2007 model, but figure it should be close at least.
I have two questions I could use some help with.
First, I did get front and rear top/bottom covers (ebay), but planned on only replacing the single cracked cover...Is this fine, or should I replace both top and bottom?

Second...I took out the six bolts according to manual, but the top cover still seems "stuck". I don't know if I should force it, or if there is a step I am missing because of the 2007 manual vs 2006 model.

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Tim.

The gasket sticks pretty good so you may have to tap it to break the seal. as far as changing just the top half I guess you could as the bottom is held down by the rocker shaft mounts

You are fine to change out just the top portion. Like stated above, gasket is probably stuck. There should be a spot between the top and bottom covers where you can wedge a slim screwdriver in and pry the top cover up. And make sure you use a new gasket.

Thank you both for your help. I got the cover off and have replaced it. Just realized I have loctite blue 242, manual calls for 243. I suppose it is best to pick up the right stuff tomorrow before torquing them in.
Thanks again!

Personally, for this application I wouldn't worry about whether I had 242 vs 243. Hell, I just swapped my upper rocker covers out a month back and couldn't even tell you what number I used (guessing 242). Here's a reference for you:

Thanks guys, that saved me a few bucks (and the ferry ride to the store)!

Still more repairs/tweaks to go, so I am sure I'll be posting again soon.
