Hey out there.
Sold a 2000 Deuce to step up to touring. Bad, bad move. Missed that bike since the day I sold it. Went to a RKC then a '11 Ultra Limited.
Looking to go back sportier since I don't do a lot of long rides anymore.
Got it narrowed down to;
Softail Deluxe ( always been partial to these)
Softail Slim
Breakout
Any input? Whose riding any of these?
Thanks

Deluxe if you are ever going to have a passenger. Breakout if you are a fan of the shiny side, Slim if you want to go a bit darker. If it was me, Deluxe. Gives you the most options for the future, you can carry a passenger and do light touring. I also like all that chrome.
I personally would go with the Deluxe, this was actually my first choice when I was purchasing my bike while in Afghanistan. I LOVED the white on red color scheme but when I was ready to buy, the paint scheme was discontinued so I opted out.
I am on my Fatboy Lo and couldn't be happier but whenever I am at the dealership, I stop and stare at the new deluxes, something about that look that really attracts me! Anyway, good luck with your choice.......before you buy, make sure you test ride and find the one that fits you.

I hear your story all the time.
People trading in for a tour ride only to find out that the only time they really enjoy the bike is while traveling to get some place.
Once they are there they wish they had a non-touring bike.
I'd go with the Deluxe or perhaps even a Heritage

Love my Breakout. But it is really low to the ground. I have to take it easy in turns or I will always scrape my pegs.

Lol, at least it's not just me! I do feel guilty while I am looking at the new deluxes though because I have a brand new (2014) Lo out in the parking lot that I absolutely love; how could I lust after a second bike? Oh crap, am I cheating on my Lo? Haha
not the first time this has come up. i rented an ultra last year to go to canada with the boys. loved it while banging down the miles headed up. but once we got there i hated it for any other type of riding. i look at the touring bikes like a minivan. very comfy, can carry lots of $hit and can handle most situations with ease. but you never really want to drive it anywhere!
my buddies all love their touring bikes. i ride them once in a while and just say to myself this isn't for me.
