So the time has come again for me to buy another Harley. I'm stuck between a Cross Bones and the Breakout.
Something that I always think about is.............. Who would go for a Cross Bones today when it is the same price as the Breakout?
Does it hold true that a 2011 Crossbones will be of a great value in the future since not in production?
I seriously looked at the x-bones for about 6 months. it was nearly impossible for me to find a 2011. Most of the ones I could find within a reasonable distance were 2008's with fairly high miles on them and still pricey. So I think a 2011 would hold it's value really well.
BTW I ended up getting a 2013 softail slim. It has the old school bobber look as the x-bones minus the springer. There are a lot more slims out there. In fact I got mine just 2 months ago with only 1000 miles on it.
Looking at my beautiful CB right outside my office window as I type this.
I love mine and get more compliments on it than any of my previous Harleys.
It is a wonderful platform and personally I hope HD never builds one again.
Never had a Breakout but I think they are really nice looking though it seem like comparing it to a Deuce or perhaps that bike that had the fold out passenger seat might be more the "look"..
I own a '13 Breakout and funny enough….. my dealer had a great low mileage X bones when I was bike shopping and I almost second guess my purchase. Something about the way it sits, I just like it. In the future I think it will end up like the Bad Boy, highly desirable and commanding top dollar.
best bike I ever owned was my 2010 Crossbones.. if i ever find the thief that stole it I will castrate him. Tried to find one like it in the denim blue lighting or whatever they called it with no luck whatsoever..
Do you like the old school look, or the new school look? Between the two, I would choose the X-Bones every time, I love the old school look and the springer front end...
I've owned my Crossbones since it came out in 08 and Harley has since rolled out numerous new models all of which are great...but none has yet to come close to making me feel like the Crossbones was either a bad choice or that I want to replace it with anything else. Not the Breakout, the Slim or anything in between. Again, those are all great bike but they are not the FL Springer which just has a character that no other bike can match for my tastes. If for some reason I lost my Crossbones, you can rest assured that it would be replaced with...another Crossbones. If I couldn't find one with good miles at a good price I would look for an 07 Springer Classic. Either way...It'd be another Springer.
