Any of you new FXSTC owners remove the King/Queen seat and sissy bar? How is the sissy attatched to the strut? Is it a PIA to swap seats back and forthwith a solo saddle?
Any info appreciated.
I am not sure what 'PIA' means, however, to swap your seat and sissy bar is easy. You will need torque bits for the sissy bar mounts on the side rails and a spanner for the rear seat nuts. When you purchase the replacement seat you will need to also to purchase the harley seat nut with plastic insert for the rear guard mudguard (to screw the new seat into).
Do not overtighten the original seat rear nuts if you decide to refit the seat as it will detach the bolts from the seat base inside the seat.
Do youself a favor and cover the rear of the fender in a towel or rag when you do take the seat off. One slip with the wrench and you'll have a nice new chip or ding in the paint job.
PIA really should be PITA or in extreme cases, RPITA or Royal Pain In The A$$.
