I've used Khromewerks HP+ slip ons on a few bikes, a Heritage being one of them. The chrome is very good quality and they have a very nice rumble but not obnoxiously loud at all.
Me and my brother had American custom exhaust do our stock mufflers. They set them up so can can use the baffle you want. Check out their website. Nice folks. Very reasonably priced also.

Check out Rush slip-ons. The sound is very good with stage 1 set-ups, and their customer service is the best. The components and finish are very high quality.

also the newer SE pipes are just a Tad bit (about 2Db's louder) than stock..
might be able to find a used set somewhere as some people buy them and are not happy with them at all because they are tooo quiet...
Also might check out some Rush slip-ons with the 1 1/2" baffles.. I have the 2''er and they are not bad at all while riding but will sound off when you nail it.
I figured finding take off muffs for a Heritage would be easy, in my area touring stuff is plentiful but Heritage stuff is NOT !! At this point we are going to try some Big City Thunder QQ inserts in the stock headpipes. If that does not do it then Dad will ship me his SEII and I will get the baffles out as he cannot.
Hello, I am asking a question for my Dad who has a 2005 Heritage, it is stage 1 only.
He has been running SE slipons since new and his ears just cannot take it any longer so he installed the stock ones and it is too quiet now for him.
What mufflers will sound good but not be too loud or as loud as the Screaming Eagle ones?? Thanks.
Devin(DK) had the Rush Slip-ons on his bike before with the Thunder Torque Inserts and they sounded great! However, you or your dad could use the Thunder Torque Inserts with the the stock exhaust to make it sound good also. The TTI's increase low and mid range torque and have adjustable sound and volume, this will allow him to get the sound he likes best.
Below is a sound clip of the Thunder Torque Inserts, hope this helps
