Just purchased my first softail. A 2004 Fatboy. It's carb , has 24k km (15k miles) and in mint condition.
I know some of you here have done a few miles on those so what should I expect or watch for when it comes to maintenance or any mechanical issues this bike could have?
This one is a little more specific. It has a 3" exposed primary. I have short legs. Anyone ever fitted this kind of set up with floor boards? This might help my reach instead of the pegs on it right now.
With this addition to the garage, doubt the sportster is going to get many miles on this summer hehe.
congrats on the bike. that model should have came stock with floorboards so mounting them back on shouldn't be an issue as long as the open primary doesn't interfere. good luck and enjoy your new scoot.
Here it is. Just got delivered home yesterday and can't wait to take it out for a ride.
Gomme: I doubt there's much mods this bike is missing. Only thing I can think of at this moment is a batwing fairing for longer trips and figure if I can fit floor boards on it.

It looks great.
Every one has their own idea as to what they like and what they envision. So you may change a few things.

Nice scoot... that's a great bike. Fatboys are awesome. I wouldn't put a batwing on that just a detachable windshield if anything. Whoever had that threw some coin at it.
Guessing from the no replies on known mechanical issues it should be smooth riding for the next little while.
The bike was my Boss and last time I sat on it was probably 5 years ago. Working out of town so fairly worried about the peg reach as by looking at pictures seems to have been brought forward probably for clearance of the exposed primary.
