Looking for some input on this primary chain auto tensioner. I am a lil disappointed seeing this on my '14 Deluxe. To me the manual adjustment was routine maintenance and now I see an auto tensioner in there.
There has to be a way to get around this I'm thinking. Sure could use a li input, thnx in advance.
RIde a enjoy with the biker, there are many others things where you can maintenance in the bike. The auto tensioner it´s a item what Harley installed very late in her bikes.
BS replies, first thng comes to my mind is instabikers. Take it to the HD tech and let him do his thng. Food or thought, I dial my scoot into what I want. Someone out there knows wtf I'm askin.
so then stop your bitchin' ....take off the primary....look for wear on the pad....put it back together and pat yourself on the back for a job well done .
These auto adjusters are a problem and can lead to compensator failure and inner primary transmission bearing failure. Please read up on the issue there is lots of info on the topic. Consider changing to a baker manual adjust.

I think just like anything some people will have issues with it and some don't.
I haven't had any problems with the one in my 2010 Ultra yet. I do make sure I warm my bike up properly before getting to hard on it though.
Not sure I'd spend $200 on a manual adjuster that you have to take the primary cover off to adjust. May as well set your auto tensioner correctly and then spot weld it like others have done.
This subject comes with a lot of controversy. I'm thinking ahead after my warranty is gone and I start on the top end. I'm old school and prefer all adjustments be done by me, not these silly auto adjust thingys. That's just me.
I've read several work arounds and the chit chat over a brew and their various thoughts.
Manual adjustment only if an older primary case with the inspection plate will swap over, pricey though. This may be very well something I learn to live with until I run across that guru who has the fix.
