I've used my heel shift for years as I can't get my boot under the toe shift very easily.

OP thanks for posting this up, and glad you are ok.

I wear these boot straps to hold my pants down when riding and they keep my pants taut to my boots....I guess they've prevented this problem too as I've never had this happen.

I adjusted my front lever up a notch. A big Wesco Boss Engineer slides right under now with no issue.

I always take them off makes more room on the floorboard. Other solutions as mentioned the straps, clips, tuck in your boot, or wear some skinny jeans.

Good idea, will give me some more room on the board as well. Thanks.

Long day at work. More replies than I thought there would be.

Yeah, I'm not perfect. Oh well. I've heard of this before, from this site. I just never had enough trouble that I thought to remove the shifter.

Rode today, to move the bike and check out just using the toe shift. Been doing heel shifter for years so it is going to be weird for a while.

Thanks for carrying I'm okay. I enjoy being here for that. I feel uncomfortable about posting a stupid event but it's part of this sometimes. I don't wear baggy pants, which is why I'm sure this hasn't happened before. I've caught it on chaos but they unsnapped so it was okay. I had a friend do the same thing and he fell too, so I'm not the only one.

Anyway, I'm fixing the bike and removing the part. I'm okay, didn't break bone, was able to work today. I'm thankful overall.

The Fatboy is the first bike I've owned that had one. I did not like it at first, but kept it for six months to see if I'd warm up to it. I did not. Got in the way more than anything. I miss it only about 10% of the time. Good move letting it go. It's amazing how much more real estate there is on the floorboard without the rear shifter.
This was pretty much my experience, only I took mine off a lot sooner. The cap does look sharp, and for me it was an issue of room on the floorboard for my feet.

There's been a couple of good solutions mentioned before, and if you wear boots you could consider tucking the pant leg inside the boots.

OP, thanks for the post and glad you are OK. This is something that could of happened to any of us.

Jeans and laces can get caught on the toe shifter almost as easily...don't kid yourself.

My foot got stuck a bunch of times because there wasn't enough room and my foot would get wedged. Yes I'm popular with the ladies, I have a large shoe size.

Never had that happen to me.
Although, I recently changed to the extended heel shift lever to get it back off the footboard to make more room for my size 12 clod-hoppers.

I took mine off my Heritage before I left the dealership because I've had jeans get caught causing me to almost drop the bike. I also like being able to move my left foot back along the floorboard.
