Why on earth would they kill the Wide Glide? I thought the Wide Glide is one of H-D's signature bikes, a little more chopper like than the SG's?
And how would anyone know that the Wide Glide is goin away? I didn't see any great preditions about 6 speeds here, nore did I hear any great prognostications about 96" motors. The motor company is about as tight as the Federal Reserve. Unless you can tell me where you heard this I'm not buyin' it.
Crazy,
That's funny because I was in the dealer the week before the 07's came out to get a Standard.
I wanted to make a 'Custom' out of it. But when Imentioned that to the salesmanhe picked up an 07 catalog and said they were going to make them again for 07 and they already had one that they were going to unpack for the showroom. I asked him what color it was and when I could see it. He said it was black and they were going to put it out on Monday.
I was there Monday, took one look, sat on itand said, "where do I sign".
I really didn't want another bike with a silver motor, so I waited.
There was a post a couple of weeks ago with a link to a dealer website indicating the Softail STD, Wide Glide, and several were not returning for '08. Haven't heard anything since, but I did personally view the ad on the site indicating this info. I'm not sure I buy it either, but who knows.

For what its worth, many dealers have confirmed the discontinuations.
iam new to harley's i have drooled over them for quite a while, i like thelook of both the WG and theFXSTC.
after test riding both of them the FXSTCsuits me better.
So i put an order in for a FXSTC 08 model......dam the wait is going to kill me....but it will be worth it.
If you remember, Harley just did bring back the Softail Custom after having discontinued it for a few years. If they do discontinue the Wide Glide there's nothing to say they can't bring it back again.
I wouldn't want to see the DWG go away. I think they need to pull the fork angle back in and rethink that Rr fender. If they want the bobtail fender, put the one like the Softail.
If they're going to bring a model back . . . How about an 08 FXR . . . With the 110" and the 6 sp . . . . . And that stout frt end the Dyna's have now . . . Would that be tough . . .or what ??!!
