I have a 2012 blackline/softail 103" recently while riding the rpms wouldn't drop back to idle and it was almost like the throttle was stuck open. Even when I would start the bike the rpm would shoot right up to like 3500! Today I replaced the throttle position sensor, started it , nothing changed... so I replaced the idle air control sensor , and it fixed the problem! for like 20 min...... 20 min into my ride, when I let off the throttle expecting the rpms to start dropping, they didn't. they just stayed at 3000 rpm, i pulled in the clutch and shut the bike off. I sat for a min and turned bike on and the rpms shot right up to 3000 again..... any ideas why my rpms wont drop down to idle..... even if i clear the codes and reset my battery , the second the bike starts the check engine light comes right back need some help here
I'm afraid my advice is based on my old 03 but I had the same trouble and it was caused by two things, a cracked throttle shaft which didn't allow the left side of the shaft (when looking at it) to give an accurate reading to the Throttle position sensor which is on the left side. I replaced my throttle body but the TPS was also bad, when I replaced that all was well. You've already replaced the TPS but a broken shaft would still give it bad info.
I'm assuming yours is TBW so this might not be your issue but it gives you something to look at, perhaps your throttle shaft is cracked. You can easily open it up and check.
If that's not it, did you add any other mods between when the bike ran well and when it started doing this? In particular, did you do anything to the TBW wires in between when it ran and when it didn't?
thanks for the quick response I parked the bike last winter no such issue, over the winter I installed 16" apes and new cables , it worked fine for the first 3 days and now thisssssss

Hmmm I'd be checking the throttle wires..maybe they got pinched or something easy like that, if not, I'd check the spices.
Unlikely it's your throttle shaft, but that's free to check and easy and if it's broken it'll cause this problem.

Yup, I would carefully recheck your work to make sure everything is still hooked up and adjusted probably, also check for pinched/shorted wires.
