So, yes, you can get a lot more lean angle out of a Breakout with a few small, cheap changes - the first being to Sh*tcan the original foot pegs.

GREAT feedback! Got any pics??? THIS is precisely why I asked this question on this site...for PERSONAL feedback from folks who ride.

Nice looking ride man! I love the fact that you kept the same angle as the forks with your apes! How tall are you? Just wondering how well the bike fits with apes that angle and height.?.? I'm 6'2" and I like to ride sitting back with my feet up on HWY pegs.

I just shot my local dealership an email about scheduling a test ride...

Here's the left side pic. I've changed the intake since my last pictures, and my rear tire to a Metzler ME880 (at 7.7K).

Thanks! I'm 5'7", but my arms are an inch or two longer than the standard test says they should be (tip to tip as long as you are tall) so the angle suits me fine. I hated the drag bars because I always felt like I was leaning into the bike. You can change the angle to whatever suits your reach. For me, the mini apes bring my hands a bit below shoulder height. Here's a shot a friend took that shows the bar height for comparison.

Another small hint...
Replacing front fork springs might help your cornering. Stock springs are way too soft and scraping often happens when front fork is somehow compressed, causing a reduced ground clearance. Just noticed a few days ago that Progressive Suspensions updated the fitting database and their standard lenght 11-1525 set fits Breakout. Gonna do this mod to my bike as well to avoid accidental scraping and have a more stable and comfortable riding. Hope this might help...

They don't corner well. The first week I rode it I probably looked like I had never rode a bike before, at least going around corners. You learn to ride the Breakout then it's not that bad. The Breakout isn't for everybody. I like mine.

There's LOTS of dive in the front forks on the Breakout, and changing the ratio helps a lot. I'd do it to mine but the roads are so screwed up here that I need all the softness I can get.

I live in Rome and roads are really ugly here as well, poth holes everywere...I know what you mean, believe me, but I guess Progressive springs would help anyway. They should be soft enough to absorbe normal bumps but avoid the dive which causes the front end being unstable. When front fork is too soft the bouncing might be even more dangerous. I don't feel BO stock springs as adequate to the bike and the bike trajectory, especially in cornering, is not as it should be. Scraping pegs is only a secondary issue if compared to that imho.

Well, that's another thing both Rome's have in common. I put in Shotgun Shocks and it improved the swing arm greatly over the stock rear shocks.
