Fitting softail forward controls 33909-08A on an ABS fatboy
As the subject line says; these are the forward controls for my model. But I'd like to fit them myself. If at all possible, I'd like to avoid having to disconnect, and therefore reassemble and bleed, the brake cylinder. And since I've got ABS, I've heard there's all manner of pain involved with "resetting" it (or is it just clearing the codes that get thrown, as I can do that with my SEPST).
So the question is: Can someone who has fitted these controls say for certain whether I can swap the stock footboards for the controls without having to take apart the brake cylinder assembly? I'm sure I read somewhere that the mount was "slotted" so that it can be removed without disconnecting. But I can't find any photos that show the cylinder assembly mounting properly, the installation instructions aren't clear, and the local dealership says "no, you have to disassemble. Bring it to us and we'll charge you $$$"
I just put forward controls from HD on my 13 fatboy, non-abs. Bracket was slotted on floor board bracket and new forward control bracket. Can't say on an abs bike. Easy enough to remove the large jam nut on the rear master cylinder to see if it is slotted. Just loosen it up and you will see if its slotted.
