How much did everyone pay for their 1k service? I just picked my bike up and it was $440?? Is this right? Asking a guy at work who has a new Ultra and he said his was free. Not sure if he got a deal because he's got a lot more expensive bike or what. Naturally when I dropped it off I didn't ask how much, I figured an hour of labor plus fluids would be $200 tops so I just dropped it off and said do it.
mine was high $400's. it is a tad more then a few fluid changes. they grease things and are supposed to recheck torque and adjust the steering head. and just do a once over on the whole bike. i waited for mine and they took about 3.5 hours. it isn't a simple oil change. now the info is out there for you to do it yourself, but that is a moot point since your bike is at the dealer already.
I went to an indy and he only charged me 170...most others here will tell you to do it yourself....im not mechanically inclined so i pay people to do it, but i would never go to the stealer to pay their stupid prices. Find yourself a good independant m/c shop, you will save lots of money
For me, as the bike is under warranty, I'll eat the $$$ and go to the dealer. Why?
It's under warranty. If they find something needing adjusting or replacing, its done on the spot. If you DIY or go to an Indy, you STILL have to take it to the dealer if something is found needing repair, well, at least if you want the repair covered under warranty (no charge).
Once the bike is no longer under warranty, I do everything myself except breaking tires and splitting engine cases. Some day, I'll be equipped to break down the engine too.
1000 mile checkup is $295.00 for synthetic at my dealer. As already stated, the 1000 mile checkup is more involved than just the fluids. Its listed in your owners manual what they SHOULD do.
I know it's more than just fluids. Since this is my first new bike I wanted to take it to the dealer for service to ensure things are done by the book...but $400+? Damn! Just checking here to see what others have paid to determine if I should try and dispute this.

$350 is about par in my part of the world at a dealer. Like others said, its a lot more than just the oil if done right.
