Default Hot Heritage

I have a new to me 13 Heritage and the heat coming off the motor is very hot. Any ideas on how to cool the motor better or is it better to deflect the heat. Any ideas ??

Thanks

Some recommendations:

1. Get replacement exhaust header w/no CAT.
2. Gut your stock header (e.g. remove CAT).
3. Buy/install a piggy-back tuner and adjust fuel.
4. Get yourself a crotch cooler assy for the bike. Couple of good vendors recommended on this site.

Good luck & ride-on!

Our crotch cooler will make a world of difference for you. They get great reviews and are very easy to install. http://shop.captain-itch.com/Crotch-...hields_c36.htm

By installing slip on's I immediately noticed a huge difference. I didn't want to spend the money on a complete stage one so I just swapped the mufflers. Mine's a 2011 and the stock mufflers with the cats seem to hold the heat inside. I still feel heat from the motor and my wife feels a lot of heat near the passengers peg but it's night and day difference. I'm thinking a controller would help richen it up more and run cooler yet even with just the slip ons. I'm not sure if the 2013 has the cat in the header or muffler like mine.

The cats are not in the headers. They are in the mufflers. A set of slip ons and stage one will do what you want. Don't bother with a dyno, just a tuner.

I did not know the Heritage had CATs in them. Muffler or header ? Does the SE pipes also have the CATS in them, or can someone recommend slip ons that will not cost a arm and a leg. I may switch to synthetic oil for the ride to SD. Any other help is greatly appreciated !!From what I have read, stage one really does not do much good/ Thoughts

Nothing makes a big difference but lots of little things add up to a noticable difference.

For me:
SE Air Cleaner
V&H Big Shot Staggerds
V&H Fuel Pak
Crotch cooler
HD driver's Circulator pad
stay dry type underwear.

Don't know who told you or where you read that stage 1 doesn't do much good for my ride an exhaust, heavy breather, and a fuelpak 3 did nothing but good things plus runs substantially cooler
