Need some help mounting an Auxiliary Lamp kit onto a 2006 FLSTI. The bikecame with a detachable windsheild (part #57140-05). The lamp kit says refer to the windsheildinstrcution sheet for correct mounting sequence. Proble is I don't have an instruction sheet and I was wondering if there are extra parts that came with the windsheild that I did not get that I now need. Appreciate any help like pics or a copy of instructions. Thanks in advance.
You just need to make sure the lights clear the windsheild. Most of the ones for use with passing lamps are cut out at the outside bottom corners to allow for lamps.
Anytime you purchase something and it does not include the sheet, see the service department or parts counter. Tell them you need that information and remember, it is always included so you paid for it.
I was wondering, I have a detachable winshield as well and purchased the Aux Lamp kit which is compatable. What concerns me is how little thread is actually employed on the mounting hardware, particularly on the top mounting points which is about 1/4 of an inch. I am very concerned about stripping the threads on the fork tubes.
First, should this happen, is there a way to fix this,
Second, is there something I can do to help keep this from happening?
Let me add somecomments from my recent experiences. There are two different detatchable w/s available from Harley depending on if you have theaux. lightbar kit or not. The detatchable w/s designed to be used with the lightbar has brackets that are slightly wider, and theapproiate hardware, than the non-lightbar w/s. Bottom line, I had to buy a new w/s becuase my original won't work with my new lightbar. If you have a non-lightbar w/s, it won't workin conjunction with aux lightbar kit.
