Default start relay

A month ago i had a problem with the "00" train. While riding the bike lost all power to the dash, but kept running. Thou the bike ran like crap it stayed running. After some searching i found it was the start relay. I replaced and the bike ran great for 500 miles then did it again today. What is the chance i got a bad relay, or what would be causing the relay to fail. Any ideas cause this one has me stumped.

Default RE: start relay

Hi there,
Im an auto elec by trade, and even though I haven't had a great deal to do with the electrical system on Harley's - I would have thought once started the start relay would have been out of the equation. More like a "run" or accessory relay that woud be powering your system. Do the basics first though, check all the fuses.
If I was to see a wiring diagram i may be able to give you a head start on what too check.

Cheers
