Default Pre-stretched rear fender.

Is there an QUALITY pre-stretchered rear fender out there that will take my tombstone tail light on it? It also has the lay flat license plate holder on it too.

If there is, is there a preferred vendor to deal with?

I decided to go after market, not my 1st choice but...

I am not going to use my tins because I don't want to lose this black and white color combo that I have on it now. So, I didn't want to go through the trouble and expense of getting another fender and yet another for the donor metal. Then I would have to pay someone to do it, then body work and paint.

I already have had a new tank for a good while now that I got dirt cheap so all I need is fenders. Is there a supplier that would have that rear fender and a front to match? I prefer not have 2 different brands of fenders on there if I can help it.

Thanks in advance for any help or info provided.

I can not point out a brand for you Tony. I myself looked at different offering in the past. What I seen out there was not to my liking. For what it will cost you to pick up a few used fenders, you can make it exactly to your liking. These stretched fenders are subjective to the owners tastes. Everyone has a different idea of what looks good.

I just did one for my 87 Heritage using 2- scrap fenders. The front half was heritage, the rear off a FX I had laying around. That combo had minimum amount of welding. Just cut the fenders in the proper spots, and weld them together. There was more work welding up unused holes than joining the two main fender pieces together.

If you havnt seen it, you can look at it here.

The main thing is get a fender you like. Ive seen many that I thought went back too far, and others that tucked so close to the tire the bike looked like it got rear ended. Finding a good balance is hard to do. You have to find what you like, and if you cant, then the only option is build it your way.

Good luck with your search

The first name that comes to mind is clockwerks. They are quality and I'm pretty sure they make stretched fenders

Tony, I'll keep an eye on this thread as I want to do the same to my Deluxe and I'm in Chicago. At the moment I'm looking for a scrap fender and a body guy, but I'm open to ideas.

Do it yourself....you get want you want that way.
Otherwise Klockwerks are about the only pre-made aftermarket ones that are of any real quality. You will still need to drill for the mounting of the tail light and signal bar, plus run new wiring for the lights.
Just hope you like the way theirs kicks out in the rear and they only offer a stretch of 4".

Klockwerks fenders are quality pieces I have bought a few, they are stamped from 14 gauge and are much stouter than factory fenders (none of the internal reinforcements are needed). You guys with the skinny tire softails are lucky, there are quite a few off the shelf options out there, the 200mm Softails are a different story we have to make our own. I'm using a couple of Klockwerks Benchmark fenders as a start for mine, if I ever get started.

Just so you know, Klock Werks fenders are HEAVY! I had a local "custom bike shop" attempt to stretch a Klock Werks fender. When it was all said and done it weighed in the neighborhood of 30lbs, maybe more. I am trying to fit a Klock Werks stretched dash now and it absolutely does not fit regardless of what the website says. You are going to have to do what everybody else does. Get two fenders and go from there.

Damn tbone, for year's your bike has been one of my absolute favorites on the forum. Can't even imagine you changing it up. But when you do, my interest will be very peaked. Can't wait to see what you create.
