2014 heritage flstc w/nacelle headlight - riden w/Full face Shoei and skid-lids. bought Harley fangs- waste of money, cut down shield from 16 inch to 11 inch waste of time, bought recurve 16 inch no help, sent it back for an 18 inch no help. 16 inch shield hits right about nose level in height. only ride with shield for freeway speed and long trips - wind beats me up. does Harley ugly windsplitter shield work or are there other ways to tackle this...i.e. memphis batwing...

Hmmm, have you thought about buying a Chevy Tahoe? Seriously, most of us love getting out there in the wind. Sorry if this isn't the answer you're looking for but wind and buffeting is part of life when riding a motorcycle. JMO

When I put on the fangs it took care of the buffering for me.
Added a Klockwerks Billboard Flare windshield and it took care of the buffering for the Wife.
Perhaps your definition of "buffering" is different than mine.
As for a fairing, other than hand protection I'm not sure that will change anything for you.
My Ultra I never get any buffeting, comparatively the Heritage is more susceptible to wind issues. I added soft lowers along with the fangs, and it really cut down on the issue though. If you want to have no problems, you may need to move to a batwing.
I see this is your first post, welcome to the forum. Are you a new rider? I'm only asking because I have zero buffeting on my 2015 Heritage with the stock shield. I have had many bikes and the worst for buffeting was a Street Glide with a stock short shield. Are you getting true buffeting or just wind? I'm just under 6' for a reference.

Thanks new memberbut used/read the forum lot - good info. Road for about 10 years then stopped for a few and back into it for thelast 5, however first Harley Ive owned, my brother has been on Harley forever. Normally I ride without a shield and its allgood, but blasting back on freeway its nice to have a shield. Yeah with a shield its actually headbuffeting, worst with full-face, Im 59, in either case gets to a point ofimpaired vision etc starts around 50 by the time Im at 70+ its time to pullover and throw the shield in the weeds lol. I see Harley makes a windsplitter shield dont care for the lookswondering how well it works. On freewayusually trying to get somewhere fast and dont care too much about the look.
