Hello I'm looking to add a detachable sissy bar and possibly luggage rack similar to the capture below from another forum member.
I've read that you can grind down a section of the quick release in order to keep the turn signals in their stock location.
I'm also torn between half moon boards vs pegs for the passenger
Any input would be appreciated
You can modify the sissy bar quick release to make it work with the stock turn signals. Forum member "Wachuko" posted a template he made to modify a detachable hd fender rack to fit on the FLSS. I used his template for that and for the one piece hd detachabele sissy bar (52828-11). Both attach and detach with no problems when using his template.

..snip...
Just be aware that the rack in the pic is not QD. Yes you can remove it
in about 5 minutes, but that's not "quick detach" in my book.
(I'll post a pic of my rig when I get home)
Yes you can also grind/cut out the attachment flange so you do not
have to relocate your signals.

I got tired of having to reach up under the fender to catch the 'nut' for
the 'detachable rack', so here's what I did so that I could have an
all-in-one QD sissybar/rack. There's other ways to do this Im sure,
but this is what I came up with. A buddy of mine welded on some
tabs to my sissybar and I bolted on the HD areorack. Here's some
pics.
