Default tuner?

what would be the best way to go with a tuner. I've used power commanders before on my bikes, last one was a pv5, is a fuel pack any better. what about se, which would be best for a 12 fatboy lo. best bang for the buck? just something simple

If not going with a flash tuner (Direct Link, TTS, SE or alike), PCVs are hard to beat...

watch the videos, you'll get it.

2 reasons I think it's worth the $$

1. It's a flash tuner, not a piggy-back system.

2. the autotune feature. If you change pipes, air-cleaner, cams, etc. You can adjust your AFR's and VE tables AUTOMATICALLY to maintain a smooth power curve.

A flash tuner makes an actual change to your bikes ECM (computer), by "flashing" a new tune to it. Once the change is made, you don't need the tuner to start/ride your bike, the new tune now lives on your ECM. The PowerVision is a flash tuner.

A "piggy back" tuner makes no changes to your ECM. It sits in-between your 02 sensors and your ECM, and tricks your ECM into thinking your bike is running leaner than it really is. Plenty people have tuned their bikes with a piggy back tuner without any problems, but it is a crude method of tuning compared to a good flash tuner. Also, you must have the piggy back unit installed when you run the bike. If it stops working, or stops working correctly, your bike will immediately not run correctly.

so the flash tuner doesn't stay connected to the bike, you plug it in once, tune it then unplug it?.. so a power commander 5 would be a piggyback unit?

That is correct, a PCV is a piggy back and stays connected. The Power Vision is a Flash tuner and does not need to stay connected to the bike.

Many do leave it connected because, one of the many nice things about the Power Vision is that it can double as a Gauge Cluster.

You can see more details on it HERE.

Given how easy the the Power Vision is to use, along with all the features it has, like Auto-Tune, doubling as Gauges, etc. I don't think you can do better than a Power Vision for a Tuner.
