I have a 2006 Springer Softail with fuel injection. My brake lights are staying on even when the brakes are not engaged. I have traced the problem to the front brake. If I push the front brake handle out, the brake lights go out. I assume it is an adjustment issue with the linkage between the brake handle and the caliper. How do I adjust this linkage?
Thanks, Tampa Fatboy, that is exactly what I am looking for, I think. The brake lever isn't going all the way back out when disengaged. The pads are new and for all I know, this issue started when I last had the bike serviced. Gonna try this and see if it works. Thanks, again!
And or the front master cylinder needs to be rebuilt, because the return spring is getting weak.... the rebuild kit is like $20 or less from the dealer, and it takes maybe a half hour tops, including beer time.
This is probably broken or the little spring which looks like the letter V is out of place. This switch needs to be soldered into the wiring and is sort of a pain.
When the lever is removed, a piece of cardboard need to be slipped in to protect end of switch and the lever comes out. However, if you have Harley's taillight converter and the signals are also brake lights, the switch does not last long.

As far I know the switch only applies a ground.
There's no power going through it.
@ Bluraven...current to ground. I'm just trying to figure out what RIPSAW is on about with the switches die faster adding the tail light conversion.
On my bike, it put 2/3 more load on the hydraulic and the micro switch. I have see them last forever in cars. My Harley is working on the third Hydraulic one and second micro one in 50K but I do a lot of city driving now. I put a LED in the taillight and that seemed to help. For my signals to work required resistors and that just added load back, so I did not do LED there. There is not a relay in system for brakes and taillights.
