I have a Pitbull and love it...makes cleaning the bike so much easier...a nd when the weather gets too bad to ride I lift the bike put it against the wall and cover it up..takes much less room in the garage....both jacks are built well I like the extra height also over the J&S jack

I've used and owned several jacks, including the sears red jack, the HF yellow cheapie, the J&S, Pitbull and some home made lever jacks. I've currently got two Handy table lifts and an air/hydraulic pitbull in my workshop.

The youtube video is just a bs commercial for J&S, there's no mention at all about the actual specifications, lifting height, or a serious comparative look at the construction. Don't get me wrong, the J&S is a very good product, but neither one is necessarily better than the other, just different.

Biggest difference between the two is the lifting height, which naturally requires a larger footprint for the Pitbull. If you don't need to stand to work on your bike, or don't do a lot of full builds or engine work, it probably won't matter. I've done full frame-up builds on a Pitbull lift, and (for me), the ability to stand up while I'm working on an engine is well worth the extra cost. With the turntable attached, I can rotate the bike so the lift framework is on the opposite side of where I need to work, if it gets in the way (which is seldom).

There's absolutely no problem rolling the jack around my shop with a heavy touring Harley or even a Gold Wing on it.

It also lifts the bike plenty high enough to do whatever work you want to do. I've used it to adjust the rear shocks in on my softail and no complaints. I can also sit on a stool comfortably and work on the bike without getting a sore back or shoulders.
Same here. This J&S is Solid!! They have a special now and I chose the oil drain pan for free. They also offer a military discount! The rep I talked to also set me up with shipping with another service that was fast and $20 bucks less than FedEx. Price to my door with free oil drain pan $430 not cheap by any means but bike is solid at max lift.

SG_Jim,
I thought they were type specific but went back to their website and, unless something changed over the last 7-8 years, it will. This is my first year with the softail so I have not even tried it yet. Could be good news. Thanks!

Just make sure to get a couple of 1/4" pieces of rubber or something to set under your frame on the jacks arms by the back wheel. If you don't put some kind of spacer setup in there the J&S jack will lift your rear suspension instead of the bikes frame near the back lift points.
