I have searched and have not found to much on the wider front tires, I have read that the 880 tire makes a huge difference in the stock tire tracking the lines in the concrete. at least for me the faster I go the more it tracks, I have seen some custom wheels and tires, I would like to know what is the widest front that well fit my stock 21" wheel and then what custom 21" is available?
I put a 90/90H-21 ME880 on my front wheel. I believe that's the largest that will fit on the stock rim (the stock tire is 80/90-21). I can't help you with custom rims.
The Metzelers track WAY better than the Dunlops, and I find them much better in the rain and cornering.

The widest front tire you can run on a 21 inch front wheel is a 120x70x21 tire. But to run the 120 tire you will need to change the front wheel to a 3.25 - 3.5 inch wide wheel and also change the front fender to a 5.5 inch wide fender. I think the biggest size tire you can run without changing anything is a 90/90.
The widest front tire you can run on a 21 inch front wheel is a 120x70x21 tire.
This is absolutely NOT true!
I ran an Avon 120X21 on my stock 21 inch FXSTi wheel last Summer and had absolutely no problems..... Can't believe what a difference it made! I put just over 7000 on it before Winter..... This Winter I did do some major changes to the bike and put an American Wire wheel 21X3.00 Radial fat spoke on the front....... same Avon Venom 120X21...... go for it... you won't be sorry.
Dumb question - what is the difference in the ribbed and non-ribbed tires? The only things I know about ribs are I like mine from Dreamland and Corky's, and that supposedly they're "for her pleasure" - don't know anything about them on tires. I'm looking to replace my front tire, so any clarification would help.
thanks
