I agree, but my wisest upgrade was going from the Raider to the Breakout!!!

I purchased the shorter one so I could tuck both of them in and found that thebase of the short one doesn't completely cover the hole in the fender rail left by the longer one.

The choice of a longer or shorter bracket it's up to you!

Appreciate it man. The bike is coming along nicely. It ain't done yet, but getting closer.

I talked my boss (who is also a riding buddy) into letting us off this Friday for a big Friday the 13th ride, so I'll get to show it off some. I've only seen 1 other breakout around here in my area and it was bone stock. So at bike nights I get a lot of lookers trying to figure out what it is. That's usually their first question lol. I like being a little different from a parking lot full of bikes.

enforcer, you said the ride felt about the same as stock after lowering it, do you still feel the same?? I'm sure you got a few miles on it by now... What kit did you use and how's the install?? can you choose the amount of drop??

I've got a few more miles on it now. Haven't had a long stretch of miles in the seat yet because of work and just been busy. But to be honest it really does feel the same as before lowering it. Now the ride before wasn't a very plush ride to begin with. They call it a softail but not much soft about it. The ride did improve but that was because of the new tires lol. But I don't think it has made it any worse. Not any better, but not any worse. I had already tightened up the preload before lowering it so I didn't change that. I am going on a big Friday the 13th ride this Friday and will be able to put a few hundred miles on it and will have a better view of it after a long ride in the saddle. As of now, it'll be staying until air ride comes along. Or some 422's. I keep flip flopping on which I want. It defiantly looks a lot better with the big meat out back and lowering it to close up that hideous fender gap. That's for sure.

The kit I bought was the softail lowering kit from www.deadcreekcycles.com. It's the no shock removal style. Comes with a choice of split collars to drop it. Either 1.5" or 2". Also comes with the new washer/bushings and nut. Pretty much new hardware to install it. It is super easy to install. No joke. As long as you can jack it up that is. If not then you'll fight getting that jam nut loose and everything else also. They do recommend jacking the bike up in their instructions.

It's worth a shot for anybody on the fence about lowering it or just want the look until you can get air ride or a better shock in general. I've defiantly wasted a lot more money and dumber stuff.
