Default Wheel Weights

Was it really hot enough to melt the glue on my wheel weight this weekend (~100), or do you think it was put on incorrectly?

Pretty sure I lost in Borrego Springs...

Get rid of the weights and use "Ride On".
It's good stuff.

It was installed incorrectly, the mounting surface was probably contaminated with something and they did not wipe it down with alcohol, or other type cleaner, before installation of the weight.

When I got my 13 Heritage the rear wheel weights fell off three different times, so I started using dyna beads after that, and glad I did .

Yep, if it's hot enough the adhesive will soften and the centrifugal force will toss the weights. I've got the smooth chrome wheels and I've bee hit by them more than once. Guess what, it hurts. Now, when I put on a tire, I don't balance them. They will ride a little rough for about 40 miles and then smooth out. Never had a balance problem with out the weights.

I have used the beads for a couple of years without a problem. Can't say if they are the best but they have worked for me.

Another Dyna Beads fan here..I tour a lot with a couple of bikes so I just sent off for a whole bag of them. Cheaper in bulk. One ounce on the front and two ounces in the rear.

Default Thanks

Everyone thanks for the advice. I am a new rider (one year - 8000 miles). Just got this new bike. I will research both options, beads and ride on. sounds like ride on would invalidate my warranty if I admit to using it.....
