'07 Deluxe, only 600 miles, but runs a pretty consistent 220.
This seems to be common for the 07's. But take heart my friends it does seem to drop significantly once you get it broken in properly and you do the1000 mile checkup/oil change. Switching over to one of thesynthetic oils at that point will drop it even more and protect it better to boot.
Mine used to run way up there nearer 250 when it was new, but after the ECM download, 1000 miles and a switch to Syn3 its dropped down to running between 190 & 200 for most riding conditions. Stop and go with the outside temps over 80 will make it clinb up to nearly 210 or 215, but it never approaches the 240/250 where it used to regularly live in.
Seems like a major factor in oil temps is humidity. High humidiy, much higher oil temps at the same air temp. I've only seen 250 once in traffic on a warm day on my fxstc in stock config. As the miles add up the temp is dropping slightly. Running dino for a while longer and hate to see anything over 230, as it makes for quick death on the oil. Will switch to Amsoil eventually when I feel it's broken .
Well,
It's in the high 80's today and I rode two-up for two hours. Temp read 260even with recentoil change. Kinda concerned. May have to try synthetic.
The HD digital oil temp dip sticks are all over the place as far as accuracy. Even the analogs differ in accuracy. In order to check how close your is, boil a pot of water put it the dip stick and see how far over or below the reading is. Keep in mind boiling water will never exceed 212 degress.
