Default Differences in fork tins

The upper fork tins (headlight area) on my Slim were scratched up pretty bad from the stock cables but I can live with that. Awhile back while riding on the interstate a truck threw a rock and hit besides the headlight, it is dented bad and has caused the paint/powdercoat to crack and start to peel. So I ordered a DS three peice set, the black is a different color, much dirtier looking. The front tin is also ribbed, not louvered like the one on my Slim. I have looked around for a louvered front tin but they all seem to be smooth or ribbed.
Maybe I should purchase from HD? Is the louvered front tin specific to the Slim?

Here's a shot of the stock Slim shroud...

It does look the same as the one on a Fatboy...

At work now, will post pics when I get off after midnight. The one on my Slim is louvered, ie has holes or vents under the raised spots. The one I bought does not have holes, just a stamped raised area and the color don't match. Some are smooth with no raised area.

Took three pics to show what I am talking about. Guess I should have just bought HD parts the first time...

The pic above shows what I refer to as louvered, open under the raised area.

The DS peice just has a stamped raised area, not louvered and the color is not right. It is also shaped different, the top middle has a raised area above the light and there is a crease on each side. These were listed as replacements for the Slim.

No raised area above light, no creases.

I was able to return the DS set and picked up a set of HD upper fork covers from Surdyke for a decent price. HD has a few different part numbers on the covers. The one I needed was 48608-09
