I put on a full system in order to have large saddlebags, plain and simple. Bags are a must for every bike i have ever owned and i didnt like the smallish HD deluxe bags. Always wanted V&H BSS and saw a CVO deluxe in the dealer showroom with them and fell in love with the pipes. I like that they are fat. I bought them at time of bike purchase and the dealer let me have them for about the same price as slipons. I eventually will try to find the old school 2 into 1's with the baloney muffler like on the pan/shovel heads. I did eventially put on the quiet baffels and that deepened the tone a lot.
I don't know which way to go for my two 14 Deluxe ,slip-ons ,or the full system
like the vanes& hines long shots .I believe they have both. And why would someone take off good pipes, why not just put slip ons on save $ and labour ?
Depends on your goals. No future plans for a stage one, stage two? There is a difference in performance. Think about what your end product should be and go from there. You don't have to do everything over night.

Went with the whole slip on thing previously on the Fatboy, and it kind of felt like the easy option.
This time went with the ones pictured, for not very much money, just because I liked the turn out, and the fact they were so different from the stock ones which I don't like.
I'm waiting to get a tuner before I throw some rush 1.75" baffled slipons on. I got them for a steal of a price on eBay. I was planning on using them as a budget step towards a full system exhaust but I can't really find any full systems that I picture myself wanting. I really like the look on the stock Slim.
I went with the V&H slip ons on my Fatboy because I like the way the front exhaust swoops down then comes back up. I just wish I could make true duels out of it with this setup. It has that straight pipe look.
Imo I think the factory pipes on a fat boy are placed odd. The passenger peg/board goes in between the pipes. I like the factory pipes on the breakout and what came on my night train
