Default Hit and Run

I came home from work Tuesday evening and noticed a piece of metal sitting on the ground under my bike. After picking it up, it turns out to be the end of my brake lever. I then pull the cover up and discover a whole lot more. At some point in broad daylight, someone pulled in and hit my bike and knocked it over. They stood the bike back up and pushed everything that fell of the bike underneath the cover and then took off. My rear fender is ruined along with my taillight and turn signal. Brake lever is snapped. My engine guard is pretty beat up along with my highway pegs and brackets. Also scratched up the back end of my exhaust pretty good. There are a few scratches here and there from what looks like where they grabbed the bike to stand it back up. Im pretty sure I know who did it, but no one has come forward as a witness so there is no way to prove anything. Should be getting it to my local dealer Fri or Sat to get the estimate going. Right now, Im just looking at my options. Thinking about going with a chopped fender instead of putting another stock one on as well as changing up a few other things. Anyone have any tips to make the insurance process a little easier?

So sad to hear about this but unfortunately sometimes sh** happens.
At least no one is injured..
If you suspect anyone who did it, look closely for clues as some chipped paint should had been left or any cctv in the area.

Sorry to hear about this. The good thing is, no one was hurt. May as well go custom, now! Good luck!

Man that sucks to hear man. I hope the quote comes out in your favor. Sometimes insurance companies will send that own rep and asses the damage and only pay for a shop of their choice. In that case I would have them do a payout and then get the bike fixed on your own.

Well I can't help you with your question.
However next time you're around the person you think dumped your bike say loudly;

"it sucks that someone would be so low as to damage another person's property without doing the right think and taking responsibility for it. At least that person now knows the price of their integrity."

Recently the wind took my door and it hit another car in the parking lot.
The result was more than a "ding" and more like a "dent".

I left my business card with a note and called my insurance company.
My integrity is worth a hell of a lot more than the cost of a door dent.

The person got their car fixed and my insurance didn't go up.
I ended up with my integrity intact and a good story to use as an example for my kids about taking responsibility for their actions, even for non-intentional actions.

Life's about karma; "in the end everyone gets what they deserve."

Good luck with your fix.

Very sorry to hear about the incident. Like Bluraven said, you are a victim of the sad reality. No one takes responsibility any longer and, hence, no ID left for you to contact. Just a shame.

I already intend to take the payout and do the work myself. Im not too worried about the estimate. The only dealerships within 50 miles of me are both owned by the same person. The other motorcycle shops around me all refuse to work on Harley's except for one who is pretty small and does a lot of stuff under the table.

I live in an apartment complex surrounded by a lot of *** holes that don't know how to drive. Ive honestly thought for a while now that it was only a matter of time before this happened. The complex ownership doesn't care what goes on. There have been tons of issues like this and they do nothing. Only a few months until my lease is up and I can move along.
