I already intend to take the payout and do the work myself. Im not too worried about the estimate. The only dealerships within 50 miles of me are both owned by the same person. The other motorcycle shops around me all refuse to work on Harley's except for one who is pretty small and does a lot of stuff under the table.
I live in an apartment complex surrounded by a lot of *** holes that don't know how to drive. Ive honestly thought for a while now that it was only a matter of time before this happened. The complex ownership doesn't care what goes on. There have been tons of issues like this and they do nothing. Only a few months until my lease is up and I can move along.
Find a place with a separate garage when you move.
They had price list for Harley stuff. I got copies of the adds from the internet for custom items on bike that I gave them and they accepted the values that were on the printouts. Told me I could do the work or take it to local dealer. I did it and they had a check to me within the week.
It is surprising that the apartment complex does not have any cameras. Most that I know have them.
Yea it's crazy. They have cameras, but they only watch the areas around their office. Both of my cars have been broken into while here as well. They offer garages but they look cheap and not worth the money. I should have orders before too long and be on my way. When we moved in here, we dud a good bit of research on our options and this place looked best. However there was a management change as we moved in and things started going down hill.
Anyway, the bike is at the dealer and I'm expecting an answer on tuesday and hopefully a check by the end of the week. Right now I'm trying to decide on a stretched fender and bags, or do a chopped fender and use some of the money to put new bars on the bike.

Yeah will be good when you get out of that town...high crime rates. Army town, right? Management cant change the city....
A buddy of mine had a similar situation happen to him. Either someone knocked it over with a car, sat on it, or tried to steal it. Either way, he walked out to his bike to commute to work and found it on the deck tipped over. Suffered major tank damage and rear signal damage. Poor 883. The integrity of America appears to be lacking big time.
After pricing everything that will be replaced at MSRP, it looks like the parts total comes out in the 1400 to 2200 range before labor. The wild card is my exhaust. Im not sure it it will need to be fully replaced or if they will just put new heat shields on. I have so many options now. Im kind of thinking to maybe add some bags or bars or hell maybe both depending on the final total. So many options.... This might turn out to be a decent Christmas gift if it all plays out right.

Sounds like everything might work out in end for you.
Send some before and after pics when you're done.
Hell if the after looks that good perhaps somebody might knock my bike over
