Is it possible to do a Stage 1 self install on my 2015 Slim? When I had my sportster I had it done at the dealer and put on the dyno, due to being in an apartment. But now that i have a full garage with appropriate space and tools, I was thinking about V&H Pipes and Intake with a fuelpak. Of course, I know I could **** it up, but is it at all possible? Is the dyno a must?
You should be able to do this in an afternoon no problem. Get the V&H FP3 and you can use your smartphone to pick the fuel map and load it onto the bike.
I'm sure a few more hp can be had with a dyno tune, but mine runs great with the off the shelf FP3 map and many others here have had the same experience.
Absolutely. It was so easy, even my brother could do it to his, while I harassed him while drinking beer. I put the cobra tuner on and mine runs flawless. Never any pop on decel, etc..
I did use my son's smaller hands to get into a couple tight spots for the connectors.
Enjoy and ride safe.
The fp3 is by far easiest to install as it plugs in to the stock ecm and no other places. All the others require wire rouiting and disconnects and is a real PITA
With the exhaust, if you're doin a full system, just be gentle on the fange nuts. Easy to strip those. Worth lookin for a tutorial on it. Air cleaner practically bolts it self
Now go and geter done
Just make sure you haven't got any leaks on the exhaust manifold (use an incense stick and look for the smoke being blown around). That will give you decel pops that you won't be able to get rid of. And also double-check you get the O2 sensors the right way round. Otherwise you're tune will start off bad and keep getting worse the more you try and fix it.
