I think I need a Breakout!! My father in law has a few bikes, the one I ride the most is the Harley V-Rod Muscle. It's a fun bike!! It's a blast to ride. It just doesn't seem like the idea bike for the wife or kids to ride on most of the day, short rides is fine but I think a Breakout would be better with the thicker back seat and the taller and wider back rest on it. I would think that would easily be a bike they could ride on the back of most of the day. Who here has rode the V-rod Muscle and how do you like the Breakout compared to that for your comfort and passenger?

IMO the Breakout is a great all day bike....for a rider. It has stock, VERY poor passenger accommodations. It can be made bearable for longish stints (1-1.5 hours) with a passenger by adding a bigger passenger pillion and backrest. If lots of long distance 2 up riding is in your plan for motorcycling I would look at something different.
My son (13) lasted for about 45 mins on the back of a breakout before his *** was numb and he wanted off. Maybe a different seat would help but Softail suspension and wide tire with little sidewall isn't exactly a cushy ride..bad *** looking bike though! Rented one in Florida for 4 days last Feb and really enjoyed it.
I've riden the Muscle..best brakes I've experienced on any Harley I've riden! Fun bike to rip around for sure, was really impressed with the handling of that chassis.
I had a night rod before the breakout and I must say honestly the vrod was much more comfortable than the breakout...two up riding imo is neither one of these...can be done but you will get an earful before the next fuel stop
My Blackline and BO had pretty much the same passanger seat and my wife hated it right off. She said it was like riding a 2x4.
So, with the BL, we got a "Butty Buddy" and she loves it. And we use it on the BO too. Yeah, it's odd looking when she's not on it but so what? It's riding that counts. She's ridden 10 hours with it and no complaints. Plus it's cheaper than a new seat.

Had a 2014 Night Rod Special (Same bike as the muscle). Got the Vrod and then the wife wanted to ride. I adjusted the rear foot pegs and got the back rest. Nothing worked....
Ended up buying a used 2011 Road Glide. Awesome bike and the wife was comfy, but I could not get use to the ugly fairing.
Ended up buying a 2015 Breakout (which is the bike I've initially wanted to begin with). The Breakout is just a tad more comfy than the Vrod was for the wife. Plan on dropping 600.00+ if you want a passenger to be happy. I bought the larger passenger pillion, and sissy bar. She can ride about 75 miles, then needs a break.
A Breakout is not a wise choice for two up riding.
I spent the money on a Le Pera Sorrento seat with the gel in both rider and passenger areas. I'm hoping it's good enough, in the shop right now for a bunch of winter upgrades, not even sure if he's gotten the seat yet.
This question is a joke right? Sorry about that. Both bikes are lone wolf bikes. That doesn't mean you can't ride 2 up but as others have said not the best choice
