Skip -

So ... I guess I won't be ordering the kit from a catalog ...

Seriously - very, very nice work. Good pics, very helpful. Appreciate all the detailed instructions - I'll be saving them in my future projects / winter downtime file.

Willie must have been drinking the nighthe said "OK"to the stock Custom seat...
Your bike deserves something better.
The LePera Maverick is a good looking seat. The Corbin Dual Tour is also a nice seat with decent looks for a comfortable two up. The Corbin also offers a built in back rest that your lady will appreciate.

I'll be the loner here, but I bought a corbin dual touring seat like that and it bruised the insides of my thighs on my first 500 mile day with it. Take a look at the link (above) and see how sharp the edges are and how deep the bucket is. Your legs have to rest on (over) those edges.

Next I got a Mustang dual touring, and it's a world of difference for me. I can stay on it all day.

The backrest is adjustable up/down and back/forward without tools. There are detents for up and down and a chrome thumb screw for back and forward. Nice.

The chrome rail on that back seat corbin bruised the lady. Take a look at how high that rail is, and just where it is, and think about it. It must work fine for some people, but I'm 5'10 190# and the lady is 5' 8" and slender so we're not weird shapes imho.

Am I a corbin fan?

Here's one pic of a Mustang touring. Of course it comes with or without backrest, studs, etc.

This seat cost around $600 with backrest. You can get a nice one for more like $375 with shipping if you don't want the backrest.

I get my best prices from these folks, but someone may know better of course:

OK flamers, have at me.

I'm completely happy with the retro HD seat. In fact, it was when I saw the bike on the showroom floor with this seatthat Imade the decision to trade in the '04 NT (not that the seat was the determining factor, just that the stock seat looks absolutely hideous....I agree with the comment on Wille G. being a bit hammered to let that slide by!!!) The retro seat is very comfortable for rider and passenger alike......good thing to have the dealer throw in at no cost while they are busy hosing you....mine did....!!!!

I'm considering letting a local custom seat shop strip out about an inch and half of foam out of the stock "Laz-E-Boy", hopefully resulting in a similar profile to the retro HD seat. Anybody out there seen or heard of this being done?

I'd like to think Willie G wasn't even in the room when this decision was made.
