Default Heat Shield

I have an 06 Deluxe and looking for a heat shield that will cover the rear portion of the rear cylinder. I put a narrower seat on it and when I come to a stop and put my legs down my inner thigh gets right on the corner of the rocker box.

Just looking for something to keep from branding myself anymore.

A bunch of guys on this forum recommend this guy.

Personally, I don't much care for the look of them.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...I've never been bothered by the heat from my engine. Even sitting at a stop light for 20-30 seconds. I just don't get it, unless you're always riding in a parade or you're keeping your feet on the pegs at stops.

Only issue I normally have is if I'm stopped sometimes my right thigh will come in contact with the oil cap. I can reposition my leg so it's not a problem, but I've been keeping my eye out for some kind of cover for the cap. Either leather or silicone should do the trick.

I believe that individuals with shorter inseams tend to have more problems with the heat from a crossover pipe, the rear cylinder or oil bag. With a shorter inseam, your legs are more vertical when stopped with your legs down. That is the basis for langwilliams' advice of lowering the bike. By lowering the bike, it effectively lengthens your inseam.

I have an inseam of 34" and do not have any issues with the heat and I live in Texas.

Take a serious look at Captain Itch's crotch coolers. Numerous HDF members swear by it. Larry and Isabel have an impeccable reputation.

Haha, my problem isn't short legs... Just fat ones. :P

I don't have a problem spreading out a little more once it happens. It's just when I'm not thinking about it I occasionally go straight down with my foot.
