Default Easy Brackets for Night Train

Hello all!

I'm new to the board. I'm looking to add saddlebags to my Night Train. I am interested in the easy brackets. I have a detachable HD backrest. Does anyone here have any experiance using these or the Ghost Brackets?

On a related topic. I came into a very inexpensive set of Saddleman Drifter bags. I would like to use these with the above brackets, but need to "stiffen" up the back of the bags. Any ideas on this as well?

Look forward to reading more great ideas and suggestions!

Thank you,

Dave

I have Ghost Brackets (great product HORRIBLE company - avoid them!),a nd they work great on my Night Train. Easy Brackets are pretty much the same type of system. I mounted mine on hard Electra Glide bags. I used some mild steel to reinforce the area where I attached the brackets.

Here's a pic.

Cheers!

So I am assuming that since you put these E glide bags on your softail that it would be completely possible to do the same thing with RKC bags ona deluxe. Does this messwith your passenger foot space any? Did you have to drill new holes?

I'd say yes. I did have to drill holes in the bags to match the holes in the brackets. I also had to fill in the stock holes (I just globbed black RTV into them after the steel was installed - worked like a charm). There are no leakage problems. Can't really say about the passenger foot space... I never carry any, hehehe... The bags are fairly long though, and I do think they'd get in the way of a passenger. Of course, you can mount the brackets farther forward (pushing the bags more to the rear), and that would probably take care of any passenger issues. One other thing - I had to remove my rear signals, so a rear signal relocation kit is needed.

Cheers!

I have the Easy Brackets and love them. Added steal strip to reinforce bag on bottom.

I have Easy Brackets, very satisfied with them. I used the inner plate steel from the factory saddlebag mounts to reinforce the bag for mounting.

I have the Ghost Brackets and never had any problems with em. [sm=smiley20.gif]

They were a cinch to install and they lock onto the fender strut.
I didn't have to strengthen the bags because they have a pretty solid back.

Good luck with your project and welcome to the Forums!
