It maybe fuel issue unfortunately I don't know a good test to check for good fuel pressure. The pump works and when I did my compression test there was fuel going into the cylinders. Also spark plugs do not indicate an issue, not saying an issue did not pop up in the recent start ups
Sorry for the offensive words. Just trying to get to the bottom of this without spending
More than the bike is worth. To be honest my bike sounds just like my buddies honda 1300 with drag pipes. Not really a good sound to me. Also I have checked my dtc's and there are no codes popping up. Kind of leaves me with my head scratching here
no apology needed, i hope you get your bike fixed. a broke bike makes me sick to my stomach, i feel for ya
Heard of a very similar problem with the IAC sensor. Spraying some carb cleaner on it sometimes frees it up, but not a permanent solution if it is your issue. If cleaner makes it move freely, I would look at replacing it.
I checked the iac and it moved up and down when cycling the ignition. I cleaned it and a little gunk came out but not a lot. I may replace all the sensors in the intake track so I only have to remove the intake once.
Today while riding everything was good until I accelerated to pass a car. When I backed off the gas bike started to break up and sputter. It stayed running and will start fine it just sputters and feels like it is running on one cylinder. I don't have a check engine light on yet but was wondering if anyone else has had this problem.
Two thoughts...
How about the fuel filter...when was it changed last. Not that much money to change but a little bit of a pain, but not hard. I changed mine after two years and it was nasty...
Second one that i witnessed with my buddies bike on a trip which had been to the dealer with no uck...also, its an 07 dyna. We took it to another hd dealer who was on the ball and hadcit fixed in thirty minutes for sixty five bucks...they found he was missing four critical firmware updates for his bikes computer...even though the other hd dealer had the bike twice and charged him for two hours with no results...
Afterwards, his bike was running like new and still is...
I asked them to check my rocker for making sding updates and mine was missing three...these guys became our new dealer at that point.
Easy to have them and worth doing for sixty five bucks. Good luck.
Ps i have a honda in the garage besides my rocker and i took no offence by your comment my friend...hope you find it and ride safe.
I think I can narrow down the issue with my bike this week. I will swap out the plugs and wires, change out the crank shaft position sensor, change out the tps, and do a fuel pressure test. Between those changes I hope to find the solution. I hate tossing parts at a bike with no results. As for the firmware updates I have a pc 5 on the bike so I don't think updates will help. Plus my bike is stuck in my garage. Can they do updates with the ecu in hand?
Well I think I figured it out. Went out and cranked the bike over to let it run so it would trip a light. Bike had a real hard start from spraying carb cleaner in the intake. Once it started it ran like crap as it was. For the first time the bike shut off. I went to restart it and the fuel pump went silent. I can here the fuel pump relay clicking but no life in the pump. This does not help me out a ton but it narrows my search down to either a bad pump or electrical to the pump
Can anyone tell me which wires go to the fuel pump positive and negative? I want to jump the pump to determine if the pump is bad or there is an electrical issue
Ok back to the drawing board again. I figured out the fuel pump problem. The fuse must have blown while messing around with it. Bike starts again but my problem still there. I pulled the spark plug wire from the rear cylinder and there is no change to the bike running. Ii tried to swap the plug wires and the bike would not start leading me to think that my issue is the spark plug it wire. I have already swapped the coil once so I think I have narrowed it down here
