I have a 2003 FXST and I love the look of the fat boys with the floor boards, is it possible to put them on the standard with out serious frame mod. Thanks for your help
Anything can be done with the right amount of green. If Harley does not sell what you need, I'm sure JP Cycles will. And when all else fails - do the fab work your self. I did a custom fab job to get the type of rear boards that I have... Made the parts out of wood then had a machine shop make them out of metal & powder-coat....
I want to do the same to my 06. I asked my mechanic about it. He said that you need to buy the floorboard kit and the shift linkage will need to be changed a bit. It's not a big deal. I believe the parts can be ordered from HD. I just poured in money for new bars/diamond back cables to afford the floorboards, but that will be my next upgrade. I have put on foot dr mini floorboards, and between those and my highway pegs, I can rest my entire foot. (heel on the foorboard, toes resting on my highway pegs).
As far as asking the HD service folks, I'm not sure if they'll be able to help you much. Mine looked at me with the deer in the headlight look.
2. Buy the entire floorboards, mounts, master cylinder, shift lever, and shift linkage from a fatboy or heritage and swap them. (I did this swapping my floorboards for pegs)
3. Buy custom aftermarket floorboard kits. Big money!

YES! I know because I did it. Remember ALL Softail have the same frame. All you need is to get the mounting brackets. You can get them chrome from HD or find some black take offs (when someone went to chrome) on ebay. There are no mods to perform, no linkage issues. blah blah blah. 199 posts ago I asked if I could convert my FXST (all i could afford) into a Heritage/Deluxe/Fatboy big front end style cruiser. No one responded. So I have spent the past two years building my Mutt. See pics, Before and After.
Socal, so what your sayin is if I purchase part #33698-03A from harley all i have to do is bolt it on and get the floor boards? Am i understanding you right
I found a full set of take offs minus the mc, but everything else seen in the pic. Can you guys spot anything else that may be missing in the pic that i would need. Also i have the V&H big radius installed are they going to get in the way of the mounts? Thanks guys
