Default Softail custom

I recently pulled my rear sprocket and brake disk on my 09 fxstc to clean my rim and was wondering if anybody knew the torque specs for those bolts. Any help would be great.

Brake disc 30-45 ft-lbs

This is from the 2007 Softail service manual.

Do not re-use sprocket mounting screws. Re-using
sprocket mounting screws can result in torque loss and
damage to the sprocket and/or belt assembly. (00480b)
4. Using new screws (14), install belt sprocket (9) if
removed.
5. Tighten screws (14) to 55-65 ft-lbs (74.6-88.1 Nm).
6. Install spacers (2, 10) into hub with largest chamfered
end facing away from wheel.
7. Verify that wheel and tire are true .
a. For laced wheels , see 2.11 TRUING LACED
WHEEL.
b. For cast wheels , see 2.12 DISC RIM RUNOUT.

New screws should also be used when installing Brake Disc.

always buy new pulley bolts to replace aged ones. they are fairly inexpensive at HD and come with loctite applied to threads. these bolts are torque tension loaded into a stretch zone that keeps the clamping pressure applied. old bolts may not torque properly if re-used, can remain under torqued, and fail. if you do end up re-using them, which I sincerely hope you don't, apply blue loctite and torque to the high end of spec value (65).

with brand new pulley bolts, torque to middle range of final value (60). tighten in a star pattern every other bolt like a car rim. i usually do a first pass to tighten all bolts at say 40lbs then final tighten at 60.

it is ok to re-use the brake disc bolts as long as they appear in good clean condition. again, blue loctite and torque to middle range of spec.

If a guy went down to the hardware store and picked up some good bolts for the pully, would that work as well? Local hd dealer is almost 3 hours away would hate to have to drive 3 hours for 5 bolts haha. Thanks for all the help guys, I appreciate it.

I bought grade 8 bolts at the hardware store for mine when I changed wheels. Used red locktite and torqued them to spec. Haven't had a problem

All HD wheel bolts are standard American size 7/16" - 14 threads per inch by (length). Most softail / dyna pulley bolts are 2" to 2.25" long, sportster bolts are shorty 1.75" long

Use Blue loctite and not red- unless you never plan on taking those bolts back off again

You can use any bolt from any supplier as long as it meets the following specs:

Grade 8 or better, alloy / carbon steel only- NO stainless!
Thicker grade 5 or grade 8 washers (they are slightly thicker than normal washers)
Long enough so you have 1" to 1.25" of thread going into the wheel. No less than 1" of thread going into wheel.

BTW I usually buy my bolts from Grainger or Zoro industrial supply. $8 shipped for bag of 10 7/16" 14 x 2" bolts, Grade 10+, black alloy steel. A dollar more for slightly longer and a dollar less for slightly shorter.
