Default Sundowner Smooth Deep Bucket Seat

I'm thinking of trying out a couple different seats at my local dealer...the Sundowner Deep Bucket and the Signature Series.

Seems like the general feedback on the SS is that it sits you lower and pushes you a bit forward, which would likely be good since I'm a shorter guy.

I've searched for threads/posts on the Sundowner Deep Bucket but can't seem to find any details on the seating position.

The seats look pretty similar on the HD site; however, it seems like the SS has a little deeper bucket, and obviously, the rider backrest.

I had a Sundowner on my '14 Sporty and liked it. That seat did, indeed, seem to move me forward a bit, so I'm thinking the SDB would do the same.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I've tried them both and they both sit lower and push forward.
I have the Signature Series and along with the Circulator pad, the ride is good and my butt don't sweat.

My bike came with a Sundowner from the PO. I use it when I ride two up or have to go any real distance. It's really comfy. Other than the stock Deuce seat, I just use a LePera Bare Bones and that of course is a plank.

Cool

Definately lower. I'll probably have an inch or so removed from the top of my windshield as the "line" is directly in my sight now. But well worth it for me.
As far as comparing the SS and the Sundowner, if you remove the backrest and fold over the leather flap included on the SS, you'll see that the two seats are almost identical.

Thanks again, Sleeko.

Bluraven...thanks for chiming in. I've seen a number of your other posts about the seats and the 422 RAP's.

Thanks to you as well VI.

I responded to your PM but I thought I would post my reply here as well so that others can either agree or disagree with my thoughts.
This is lot of money so making the decision on which seat to buy is tough.

Here's my PM reply:

I seem to recall that the passenger pillion portion of the Signature Series was a bit thicker than the Sundowner.
The driver's seat I think was the same.

Also the Signature Series had studs that wrapped around the passenger pillion and came with a back rest which I don't think the Sundowner does.

After I tried them both I started looking for a used one and just happened to find a Signature Series seat on craigslist in North Carolina and talked the guy into shipping it to me for $250 shipped.

If I would have found a Sundowner for a good price I would have bought that one, but the Signature Series come up first.
I don't think you will go wrong with either one, however I do like the backrest.

As for the passenger pillion, I ended up adding a Road Zeppelin passenger pad which ended up giving the Signature Series pillion about the same ride as the Sundowner if the Road Zeppelin is added to both seats.
Without the Road Zeppelin I think the Signature Series has a better riding passenger pillion.

Good luck, I know it's a lot of money and a tough choice. Save $300 off new made my decision easier.

Cool

Here's a good shot to compare to your signature picture. Really shows how deep you would actually sit in the bike. Also how thick the passenger seat is.
