Getting closer...Ground off the strut horns today!!!! Decided to tackle it with just the grinder, didn't use a cut-off wheel. I used tape, cardboard and strips of metal (you can see a door hinge that I took apart and used on top of the oil tank) to protect the paint, then wrapped the bike up in a tarp to keep the metal dust from getting everywhere, cut a couple holes in it....then went for it!!
Worked out great!!

Using that piece of door hinge was a good safety precaution...good thinking!
You know, if modern day surgeons paid as much attention to their work as you and LA_Dog do to your bike mods,
there'd be a lot fewer patients closed up with "sponges" left inside!

Good thread.

Got the fender fitted, I did a little fine tuning with the grinder on the mounts, and was able to get it centered over the tire without having to use any spacers, I did need to drill new holes in the fuse box mounting plate, and move the fuse box forward about 1/4" to be able to get the fender far enough forward to align the mounting holes ....and I think my current Danny Gray seat is going to work fine, just need to modify the mounts... I'm glad, because it's super comfortable!!....also, I think I'm gonna leave the belt guard off, I like the open look...
