So, I finally came up with a fix for a problem I've had with my kickstand!! The flat arm on the kickstand that's used to push it down, was too short, and didn't stick out far enough past the open belt drive to easily get my boot on it. I would usually give up after trying a couple times, and end up reaching down and pushing it with my hand ....I haven't been able to find any replacement stands with longer arms, and thought about adding an extension of some kind....Well, today I was looking at the stand and thinking about my options, and I found a simple fix that didn't cost me a thing....

I ended up using a piece of rubber hose around the top of the return spring. It works like a spacer between the spring and the bikes frame, and keeps the kickstand from going in as far. The longer the piece of hose, the further the stand would stick out, I ended up using the medium size piece pictured...

HERE'S BEFORE/AFTER...

Thanks Sarah!!....Now that I know I can adjust it out, I went ahead and ordered the Arlen Ness 1" Lowered Kickstand. Since lowering the bike, it sits up straighter on the stand, and I have to avoid parking anywhere that has much of a slope downhill to the right....

I also ordered a chrome return spring, so I'll move the spacer from the spring to the frame, so it wont show.

The new kickstand and spring showed up!! I also picked up a piece of 1-1/16" radiator hose adaptor, and cut it down to use as a spacer on the frame, to keep the tab on the stand out past the belt drive so I can get my boot on it. I started with a 1-1/4" piece, but didn't take into account that it opens up when you slice it to put around the frame tube, so it was too loose.....

I should be able to install it later today, and will post a before and after pic...

Thanks a lot! Now every time I look at my black spring it's going to bother me. Where can I get a shiny spring?

I ordered it on EBay, It's Mid-USA, replaces HD part #49725-07

Well, I removed the assembly and got the old kickstand off....The hardest part was getting the return spring disconnected!! It's super tight and I was having no luck trying to pull/stretch it far enough to remove it.....I found a trick using pennies, and it worked out great!! I jammed the pennies in spring with the stand in the down position, and then moved it up. They keep the spring stretched, and it will slip right off....Hopefully, the pennies will work to get the new spring back on, it's even tighter, so I'm sure it's gonna take a few more of them. I just gotta figure out how to open it up to get the pennies in?? I have an idea, so we'll see.....

Here's the Ness 1" lowered kickstand above the stock stand, it measures a 1/2" shorter on each side of the elbow/bend...
