I have an Arai Signet Q. It's not light, but I love it.

Modulars will always be heavier.

Go with a SNELL or ECE approved helmet (they are always DOT by default) and if you want really light, spend big $$ on a carbon fiber helmet.

I like Shoei and others like Arai. Depends on your head shape too. Bell has a custom fitment program as well. Go name brand. Makes a difference in materials used (itches or not), fit, finish, options, venting, aerodynamics, etc.

That white retro helmet without vents would suck.

Actual experience..

I had a Shoei 1100 - I found it very confining. I switched to a modular. I got a Scorpion lightweight for under 275.00. No confining, good ventilation and a huge vision field. I also have a AKG branded HD modular. Also super light weight but the field of vision is not as good as the Scorpion.

I've heard good things about the Scorpions, but they don't fit my head right. Many brands are focusing on a specific head shape.

I wanted a full-face, but something that looked good on a Harley

I went for the Shark Vancore (sometimes called the Streetfighter)

It's a full-face version of their 'Raw' helmet - it looks cool, is full-face and uses goggles, which in the summer I remove so I can just wear sunglasses. It's very 'airy' and not as claustrophobic as some more traditionally shaped helmets.

I am looking at getting more retro looking full-face. I tried on a Bullet, but it didn't fit my head shape. I'll try the Gringo and also the Bell Moto 3, when its re-released (coming soon apparently)

The 2 Sharks I mentioned come with goggles, so no visor to pin-lock to
