Default 1990 Fat Boy Value??

Good evening everyone,

Anyone have any thoughts on the value of an original 1990 Fat Boy with less than 3500 miles?

Thank you,

Sixcarbs

No way to accurately answer that question without knowing the condition of the bike. That's a 26 year old bike with hardly any miles, which means it could have been neglected for several years, and could use a lot of work. I paid $5k for my 1990 softail springer with 20,000 miles and it ran ok, but was pretty rough around the edges. The guy I bought it from had it for 6 years and put 400 miles on it. It mainly just sat in his shed. I wasn't looking for a super clean bike, and it only took a little work to get it running right.

Interesting question. Have a buddy with a bone stock 1990 Fatboy and I always figured it would be around a 10K sell price. Just looked at Kelly Blue Book and NADA and they put a top end of 8-9K. Figure it will be more for you since every Harley seems to cost more on the other side of the pond.

If it is original and with less than 3500 miles it will defintiely need some gasket and seal work as well as fluid change. Tires have to be changed before being ridden as well. Nice thing about EVOs though, they are definitely easy to work on.

Got any pics to share?

Remember that when my buddy bought his, the left tank had gas seeping between the paint surface and the finish coat. He had to send them a copy of his vin # in order to get correct factory replacements under warranty.

I'm the original owner, bought it new in New York. I live in Europe now, bike is in the states. I am working on getting pictures.

While it probably needs a service, it's never been neglected. Never been in the rain. Never been down.

When I bought it there was an accessories catalog with a 2-page picture of the Fat Boy with several factory items on it. I ordered everything that was in that picture.

From that picture, it has the Wille G saddle bags, a short sissy bar with an emblem on the back, the twin side lamps, and a lockable tool box on the side.

In the process of simplifying my life and trying to decide whether or not it is worth parting with.

Good way to see what they are bringing is to search ebay for completed listings of your particular model.

As a seller, don't get your feelings hurt. Used Harleys have dropped in value significantly from 1990, pretty much since 2003 when they started making so many.

It's good news when you are looking to buy a used Harley!

First year "grey ghost" fatboys tend to bring more than other evo fatboys...several relatively low mileage examples, (while not as low as yours) have recently sold on ebay in the $7000-8500 range. You might get a little more than that for yours, selling it in the states.

Had it brought to the dealer for service.

Find me another one like this for $5,000 and I will buy it.
