I am seeing more and more people do this baggertail conversion. I like the idea of hard bags just in my opinion it doesn't fit the lines of the softail.
Outside of that it looks like an easy project and from your post it made you happy. I think a bubble style lid may change my mind but I have yet to see that

rbeam; my Wife agrees with you.
I had an opportunity to pick up a new complete OEM set of vivid black hard bags that matched my 09 Heritage for $400.
I mentioned to my Wife that I was thinking of swapping the leather bags with hard bags and her response was "why?".
I told her I liked the look and thought along with my Reckless fairing the bags would finish the look giving me a Heritage with a Street Glide look.
Her response was "if you want a Street Glide why not just go buy one?". Kinda hard to argue with that.
She also stated that she liked the look of the leather bags.
Anyway I still have the itch to convert to hard bags but I'll keep it as it is for now.
To be honest. I am not tickled with he stock heritage bags either lol. Too many chrome studs on the whole bike but after 2 years of ownership they have kind of grown on me.
