Default Saddlemen seats

Anyone ever had trouble with the fitment of a saddlemen brand seat? I ask because I just bought a used one off ebay, a renegade solo part # 8170J for 2000- 2006 softail. Great looking seat with gel, very comfortable. Fitment was terrible. Huge gap between seat and rear fender and the brackets were not even close to the bolt holes on the sides of the bike frame. I debated on sending it back to the seller but I got it cheap, now I know why, and I really liked it. Yesterday I got bored and took it apart, reshaped the fiberglass seat pan and put it back together. Know it fits the way it should. I was really surprised to see the shoddy construction of the seat, the mounting brackets were pop riveted into the fiberglass seat pan. I bolted them on glassed them in. Compared to my Lepera and Corbin seats I would never purchase or pay new price for a saddlemen brand seat.
